Mushrooms can be poisonous in many different ways. Eating a poisonous mushroom may cause vomiting or diarrhea, or in more serious cases seizures, coma or death.
To prevent mushroom poisonings:
Teach children all wild mushrooms may be poisonous and not to eat them.
Check for and remove mushrooms in areas where children and pets play.
Do not eat wild mushrooms unless you have been trained to properly identify them.
Contact the poison center immediately if someone becomes ill after eating wild mushrooms.
