While our services at the Wisconsin Poison Center are free to the public, the expertise required to handle poison emergencies comes at a significant cost. Adequate funding is essential to ensure we can continue providing critical support to health care facilities, providers, and Wisconsin residents.
Studies have shown that consultation with poison centers helps avoid unnecessary emergency room visits and other health care services. In fact, data from the 2026 RAND Report indicates that, for every dollar spent by Poison Centers, an estimated $16.77 is generated in benefits.
