Mushrooms

Mushrooms can be poisonous in many different ways. Eating a poisonous mushroom may cause vomiting or diarrhea, or in more serious cases seizures, coma or death.

To prevent mushroom poisonings:

  • Teach children all wild mushrooms may be poisonous and not to eat them.
  • Check for and remove mushrooms in areas where children and pets play.
  • Do not eat wild mushrooms unless you have been trained to properly identify them.

Contact the poison center immediately if someone becomes ill after eating wild mushrooms.
